An Easter Hymn

Verse 1:
Friday was so black.
Jesus was attacked.
We nailed Him to a cross to die.
We left Him in a tomb to lie.

Saturday was sad.
Jesus was so dead.
That Sabbath we cried and cried.
With Him all our hope had died.

Chorus 1:
But Sunday at sunrise inside His empty tomb.
The angel said, “He is alive! You will see Him soon!”
‘Cause Sunday God’s Son rose and broke the chains of sin.
His power over death shows that life is found in Him.

Verse 2:
My heart was so dark.
Stained by sin’s cold mark.
I try to be good each day.
But God’s law I cannot obey.

My soul was so dead.
Guilty I had plead.
For God’s mercy I did cry.
“It is finished,” His reply.

Chorus 2:
‘Cause Sunday God’s Son rose and broke the chains of sin.
His power over death show that life is found in Him.
This Sunday let praise rise to Jesus, Lord and Light.
My soul He has made alive. My new life shines bright.

Outtro:
Jesus Lord of Light. Jesus Lord of Life
Jesus Lord of Light. Jesus Lord of Life
